A fresh start

This is my first try at WordPress so we shall have to see how things go. As I have finished the first draft of my book Res Republicae 1: From The Rocks, I felt it time to start getting more ‘professional’ about this publishing thing.

I do actually have several books underway but am concentrating on the Res Republicae series first. This series is the account of a space cruiser captain who has a real bad day, finishing up alone on a backwards planet surrounded by people armed with swords and bows. His assumptions about where he is are overturned but he decides he will go on regardless, dragging the primitives around him into the future, by force if necessary.

Enjoyed your first three Roman novels. Great fun. Looking forward to number four and five. The blog seems fun too. A little feedback? “Decimate” means losses of one in ten, especially classically. These days we’re a bit slippery about it, but you’re setting yourself in ancient Britain. You’re a bit slippery with commas at times. Your beta guy should check for opposition errors. I’m particularly fond of your characters, the imperfect sidekick, the feisty ladies.

A thousand words is pretty good. A steady couple hours a day is hard work. You might find it less exhausting if you put it in early and on a schedule. A lot of guys do that, so you’re not working when you’ve already worked yourself out on your day job. Nice stuff!

    1. thanks for the kind words. I have currently changed my work schedule and except for this week when I have been struggling with man-flu things seem to be working better. I wrote 14k words last week….. most ever in a week. Only at 5k this week cause I’ve been sick but it is till better than what I have been averaging the last 4 years or so.
I was going to publish my contemporary sorcerer book next but I am now leaning towards Arturo’s book 4 – bowing to public pressure. That will probably be it for this year and then the sorcerer book early next year. I still haven’t finished writing book 5 so it definitely won’t be ready till at least April / May at the earliest.
