I have found a few dozen errors in the kindle editions of books 1-3 is there someplace to submit them? Also the order of loading cannon is incorrect in that they are described as loading powder then shot then paper wadding. The proper order is powder wadding then shows the wadding is to create a better seal to make less expanding gas able to escape.

    1. I have read several different versions of loading a cannon. Part of the trouble is modern reenactment is done under different conditions and rules. Also most accounts are from a period when the charge and ball were formed into a pre-packaged cartridge that was loaded as one unit. Ballistically it was important that there was no gap between the charge and the ball which could cause problems to the barrel when the thing was fired. I may have also been affected by the procedure of loading a later musket with the cartridge paper acting as wadding but with the ball pushed in first.
As far was error are concerned a large number have been found and corrected in all three books – although I am not sure that the changes are updated in books already purchased and downloaded. As far as I can tell none of the 119 corrections that I have made to On The Rocks and uploaded to Kindle have been copied to the copy of On The Rocks that I have. So many of the corrections you have spotted may have already been fixed in the book for those that have bought it recently. I am no sure how older copies can be downloaded as I have the Automatic Updates function on which is supposed to cover this very point.
I apologize for the errors if you find them annoying. These are my first three books and I wasn’t prepared to spend several thousand dollars on professional editing when I had no idea of how many books I would sell. I can tell you that in the first month of release, On The Rocks sold a massive 29 copies….. which made feel a lot better about not spending money on editing. I get 75% (theoretically – it often less) of the cover price so 29 books is not a lot of money. Feel free to make a list siting the book, page or location number and the error and post them here.

    Book three:
    chapter 4 page 32:
“This is an unexpected surprise given the circumstances. How may help you?”- Seems like the I was left out.

    Chapter 6 page 59:
The militiamen had stopped firing as well after and after a couple of more shots the artillery did as well.- After and after seems oddly phrased

    Chapter 10 page 107:
Oween leaned over from his mount. “The best thing would be to act as if nothing untoward happened. Put the bishop on trial and try as many others as you can find. Can I suggest trying a few obviously innocent people as well who will be let off, so it looks like you a being just to all.”- Like you a being, maybe you are being was intended?

    Chapter 14 page 123:
She said finally making a visible effort to keep herself breaking down completely.- Think there’s a from missing before breaking

    Chapter 14 page 146:
The next morning confusion reigned at the train station as the five hundred odd soldiers were found vehicles to transport them to Lugowalion.- Sentence seems to read smoother without the were.

    Chapter 14 page 142:
“No. Well there were a lot cryptic notes, but no names,. He does not appear to have been keen on writing things down. Especially indications of who was who.- Think there was supposed to be an of before cryptic

    Chapter 14 page 144:
Arturo chimed in. “Arcadius keep blaming himself for not discovering what was obviously a plot of long standing, closely held by a couple of very loyal subordinates.- Looks like that keep should be pluralized

    Chapter 15 page 160:
Instead of our travel through the tunnel being only of short duration it went on and on and when we came out we were five thousand light years from where went in.- Where we? Where I? Went in maybe

    Chapter 16 page 180:
“Wear ship1” he bellowed. The Romulus swung around once more. “Make your course west.” He instructed the helmsmen and the ship came around and settled on a course that was much tighter onto the wind.- Think that one is supposed to be an !

    Chapter 19 page 201:
He thought that was it was called. Ha. Well that was the name now!- That was what it was called maybe?

    Chapter 21 page 222:
He spoke a calm manner trying to keep the panic out of his voice because even as he watched the ship, or whatever it was, it was clearly getting closer. He clapped the scout on the shoulder.- Think there’s an in missing at the beginning

    Chapter 21 page 223:
It crashed into one the grounded boats throwing up splinters and was soon followed by each catapult in turn as the strange ship sailed past. Most of the balls landed in amongst the boats causing small amounts of damage although one boat had a plank broken which would need repair before it could be sailed home.- Of seems to be needed after one

I will add anything else to this that I find in the last bit of the book, and I will go back over the first two kindle edition books and compile my notes. I downloaded them all the last two days and have really enjoyed this series this far.

    Book 3:
    Chapter 22 page 239:
The warships would be used control the inland sea once the landing was made and this would leave the Saxons only a narrow neck of land to attack through.- Looks like a to got left out before control

    Chapter 22 page 246:
The rest of the force had been put under the command of Lucius Felicius and h had a total combined cavalry force of nearly two thousand which was- random h by itself in this sentence

    Chapter 23 page 258:
and that was ll there to the meeting. Vaelrius took himself off and Arturo settled for a quiet evening with his wife.- Double LLs by themselves there

Great ending can’t wait to see the next instalment!

Need………some………maps!!! I am lost trying to follow the geography— especially in Gaul. How can they control most of Gaul from little Frisia?

    1. well for a start – the Frisians control most of the northern Netherlands – all the islands and parts of the coast up towards modern Hamburg.
The Romans and Visigoths control most of Gaul
I use this map for Roman stuff – it’s more 1st/2nd century but it does the trick

Portus Hadriani is, I think, anyway where I positioned it is roughly at the fort labeled Naaldwjk on the above map on the southern arm of the Rhenus.
