Updates

Next book out will be Ostraya – planning on 27th April
Currently finishing up The Princess & The Gangsters – aiming for late June or early July release
That will be followed by Taroniah at Bay (Sept-Oct) and then Kyron the Rescuer (Dec-Jan)
After that The Kelad Onslaught (New Fed – Aprilish)
Then Taroniah at Risk and Kyron the Savior
after that – hmm
Probably my new alternate history/time travel story set in Maine/New Hampshire area about the survivors of Prince Madoc ab Owain Gwynedd’s expedition to the west with his brother Prince Rhiryd – Madoc found a land – left the first party there and returned to Wales to collect more settlers and supplies, sailed west once more and was never seen again.
There are lots of fanciful tales many centered on Alabama but it would seem unlikely that people traveling west from Wales in medieval vessels of the late 11th century type would sail south to miss Florida then north to finish in Alabama without hitting the east coast first.
My story concerns a modern man sailing his boat off Portsmouth when he is sent back in time by some strange event and finds the first group of Welsh under Rhiryd barely hanging on in the face of hostile locals and still hoping the Madoc will return with reinforcements etc before they get overrun.
It gives the modern guy a challenge while leaving open the fate of Madoc and therefore possible settlers in Alabama.

I like all the series, but especially the current Taxon war series – the tech and scale just feels right, as do the characters.. so slip another one in please….

Am assuming a crossover series at some point – Arturo Sandus/taxon war/Princess Gisselle? Whoever owned or controlled a predicable alternate universe transfer point could trade technology etc. and would have a genuine strategic resource.
So I imagine there would have to be reasons why such travel is difficult or expensive, but repeatable on a restricted basis.

Anyway – keep writing! As I say, I like pretty much everything you’ve written so far.

Quick question – do you self publish or use an editor etc.?

I’m looking to self-publish so I’m asking around.

    Cheers and thanks

    1. I self publish – When I started I edited each story 3-4 times – (Arturo series) helped but but not that great but kept costs down – I also did the covers which save me a packet!
These days I have an editor (not cheap) and I pay roughly $800-$900 a cover USD – so again – not cheap.
The key – for me anyway – was two things:
      1. I stated a mailing list with Mailchimp (Just the firm I chose) and had a join mailing list page int he back of each e-book that I specifically state will only be used to inform subscribers of new books I bring out.
This gives a quick burst to your sales as you launch a new book increasing visibility
      2. I write simple, hopefully entertaining books that people enjoy reading – that’s the aim anyway – no literary masterpieces, convoluted plots or endless unexpected twists caused by something coming from left field or even out of nowhere.

Because of this my read-through is generally in the low 70% for the 2nd book in each series – varies from 74 down to 69 apart from New Federation series
And then 80’s to low 90’s % for later books
For instance – with the Taroniah books – for each dollar spent on Taroniah at School I will get an eventual return of around $3.42
The returned from KU are similar- proportionally

This is important because 75% of my income comes from KU

For some reason the 2nd New Fed book didn’t hold up over time as well as the first book despite doing better over the first month

Maybe because of the longer wait time between 1 & 2

I’ve enjoyed all of your storylines so far. The new storyline sounds interesting. It is definitely worth exploring.

As the Ithria universe expands, I’d be interested in how you would describe some of the animals you refer to – if you have the time, although there may not be much of that 🙂
